media solutions technical architecture

The Media Solutions architecture is a modular based hardware and software platform that is integrated into the existing Commercial Operations infrastructure of a cable MSO and/or cable or broadcast network.

Zone Addressable Architecture

Zone Addressable Architecture

The key component of the Zone Addressable architecture is the Visible World Gateway. The Gateway is integrated with the Traffic and Billing system of each MSO Interconnect or Operations Center. It acts as the receiving point of media packages that include addressable adcopy and targeting instructions from the Visible World Master Control facility. Approximately 50 Gateways are deployed across MSOs in the US.

Household Addressable Architecture

Household Addressable Architecture

The Household Addressable Architecture adds additional hardware and software modules to the Zone Addressable architecture. These modules are the Client Ad Serving Unit (CASU) and the Client Profile Serving Unit (CPSU). The CASU streams out addressable ad copy at the edge of the network and the CPSU manages the delivery of profiles to set top boxes and collects audience measurement data back. Additionally, the Household Addressable Architecture includes a small EBIF application on the set top box.

Network Addressability Architecture

Network Addressability Architecture

The Network Addressability architecture adds an SCTE-130 ADS interface to the existing Visible World Gateway. This ADS receives SCTE 35 messages that are inserted in the cable network or broadcast stream to identify a network addressable avail. The ADS can then insert the appropriate ad based on targeting instructions as well as distinguish a network addressable avail from a local addressable avail.

Non-Linear Addressability

Non-Linear Addressability

The Non-Linear Architecture customizes the CASU and the CPSU to insert an addressable ad into a non-linear unicast stream to a household.

Household Addressable Bandwidth Efficient Architecture

Household Addressable Bandwidth Efficient Architecture

Visible World understands that bandwidth is a very scarce resource in a cable plant. To most efficiently use bandwidth, Visible World has developed an advanced architecture that uses edge bandwidth, either through a Switched Digital Video system or through VOD edge QAMs.
